"What do we eat?"

At the third international conference about food and beverage safety "What do we eat?", held on May 31st in Hilton hotel in Belgrade, organized by the TMS CEE certification and control body, Mr. Nenad Dolovac, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, opened the conference with a review of the situation in the field of food safety in Serbia today and pointed out that it is within the European framework.

At the third international conference about food and beverage safety "What do we eat?", held on May 31st in Hilton hotel in Belgrade, organized by the TMS CEE certification and control body, Mr. Nenad Dolovac, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, opened the conference with a review of the situation in the field of food safety in Serbia today and pointed out that it is within the European framework. He also stated that national regulations are harmonizing with the european regulations, which is not an easy task, since 2/3 of all the regulations that need to be adopted relate to the field of agriculture. He stated that the National Milk Laboratory has been opened, which will enable significantly better tracking of the producers in this field.

Mr. Nenad Vujovic, Assistant of Minister of Agriculture, stated that the transition from the old model to the new model of inspection supervision, based on risk assessment, has already begun to give positive results in the field of inspection supervision, thus achieving a more effective work of the agricultural inspection in accordance with EU standards.

Also, panelists presented presentations with significant data and latest knowledge on trends in IFS certification, safety control of alu packaging, design of food of animal origin, importance of integrity of certificates, food hazards and how to prevent them, organic sugar, defenses against food fraud, quality of raw milk, the quality of drinking water in the 21st century, the importance of selenium intake in the body, as well as the IPARD program.
